Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 1, 2026  ·  Effective: September 1, 2026

The short version Direct Message does not collect, store, sell, or share any personal information. Everything you type stays on your device. The app shows advertisements through Google AdMob, which is the only third-party service involved — and you can control the ads you see through your device settings.

This Privacy Policy explains how the Direct Message mobile application ("the App", "we", "our", or "us"), developed by Yashas H Majmudar (the "Developer"), handles information. The App is provided free of charge and is intended to be used as-is. By downloading or using the App, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App.

1.What Direct Message does

Direct Message lets you open a WhatsApp chat with any phone number without first saving that number as a contact. You enter a number, and the App opens WhatsApp for you. The phone number and any message text are used only on your device, in that moment, to launch the chat. They are not transmitted to us, not stored by the App, and not retained after the action completes.

2.Information we collect

We collect nothing. The App does not require an account, sign-in, or registration. It does not ask for your name, email address, contacts, photos, files, or precise location. We, the Developer, do not operate any server that receives, stores, or processes your personal data.

3.Advertising (Google AdMob)

To keep the App free, Direct Message displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob, a service operated by Google LLC. AdMob is the only third-party service integrated into the App. To serve and measure ads, Google’s advertising technology may automatically process certain technical information from your device, such as a resettable advertising identifier, general device and app information, coarse/approximate location derived from that data, and ad interaction events.

This processing is carried out by Google under its own privacy terms, not by the Developer. We do not receive, access, or control the individual data handled by Google, and we do not combine it with any other information. To understand and manage this data, please review:

4.Your choices & controls

You remain in control of the ads and identifiers on your device:

5.Permissions

The App requests only the minimum permissions needed to function — principally network/internet access, which is used to load advertisements and to hand off to WhatsApp. The App does not require access to your contacts, storage, camera, microphone, or precise location.

6.Children’s privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the Developer collects no data at all, no such information is gathered through the App. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Google through the ads served in the App, please refer to Google’s privacy resources linked above.

7.Third-party services & links

Direct Message relies on WhatsApp to deliver messages. WhatsApp is a separate service with its own privacy practices, and this Policy does not cover it. Direct Message is an independent utility and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by WhatsApp Inc. or Meta Platforms, Inc. Your use of WhatsApp and Google services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.

8.Data security

Because the App does not collect or store personal data, there is no personal database that could be exposed by the Developer. Please note, however, that no method of electronic transmission or storage is ever completely secure, and any information handled by third-party services (such as Google) is subject to their own security measures.

9.Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you. Since the Developer holds no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to retrieve or erase. Requests concerning data processed by Google in connection with advertising should be directed to Google using the resources above.

10.Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App or applicable law. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.

11.Disclaimer

The App is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the App or the third-party services it relies on.
